Sierra or Alpine Tiger Lily (Lilium parvum)
Liliaceae ~ Lily Family
Found in the subalpine and near montane meadows, this lovely lily holds its flowers in a more upright position that other native lilies found in the same region, and can have up to a dozen flowers. The flowers are often more deeply reddish than other Sierra true lilies, and the tepals are only slightly reflexed, making the overall flower shape more like bells.
Large showy lilies are in cultivation, and should never be picked or otherwise collected from the wild.
Do purchase from a nursery, and try them in your garden!
